Lattafa is the entry point into Middle Eastern fragrance for most people, and the range is genuinely overwhelming: 198 fragrances in our database, with new releases constantly and flankers on top of flankers.
Most guides answer this by listing the famous ones. That is not much help, because the famous ones are wildly different from each other and several are wrong for the situation you are buying for. So here it is sorted by need.
If you are buying your first one
Hayaati. It is the most versatile fragrance in the entire range and almost nobody recommends it first.

Spring 2.05, summer 1.99, autumn 2.15, winter 2.13, and 2.34 for the office. The individual numbers are good rather than spectacular — several Lattafa score higher in their best season. What makes Hayaati unusual is the floor.
Its worst season rates 1.99, the highest worst-season score of any Lattafa we hold. The next best is Oud Najdia at 1.65, then Fakhar at 1.53. Most of the range is emphatically seasonal, and several of the famous bottles drop to a flat zero for half the year. Hayaati never drops below a solid recommendation, whatever month it is.
That is the right property for a first bottle. You are not yet sure what you like, when you will wear it, or what the weather will be doing — and a fragrance that is good everywhere beats one that is excellent in a window you have not identified yet. It is a clone of Paco Rabanne Invictus, long-lasting with moderate sillage, which is the right combination for a bottle you will wear anywhere.
If you want one bottle that never feels wrong, this is it.
If you need something for work
Fakhar, at 2.54 for professional settings. Five Lattafa score higher for office wear, but all five are obscure and none handles heat as well — Fakhar is the best-balanced of the office-friendly bottles rather than the highest-scoring. An aromatic fougère of lavender, sage and juniper over dry woods, with moderate projection. Clean, restrained, and its own composition rather than a clone.
Hayaati is the close second at 2.34 and slightly more casual.
What not to buy for work: Khamrah Qahwa rates a flat 0.00 for professional settings. Khamrah itself is 0.34, Badee Al Oud 0.38. These are strong-sillage gourmands and ouds, and wearers are unambiguous that they do not belong in a shared office.
If you want something for summer
This is where most people go wrong, because the house''s famous bottles are almost all cold-weather.
- Mayar — summer 1.46, and the only one in this list that rates 0.00 for winter. A genuine warm-weather fragrance.
- Fakhar — summer 1.53, spring 2.28. The best all-rounder in heat.
- Hayaati — summer 1.99, and it holds that level all year.
Avoid in summer: Asad, Khamrah, Khamrah Qahwa, Raghba and Badee Al Oud all score a flat 0.00 for both spring and summer. Not "less good" — zero.
If you want something for winter
- Asad — winter 3.72, second only to Al Awsaaf among the Lattafa we hold. Tobacco, coffee, patchouli and amber. A clone of Sauvage Elixir.
- Raghba — winter 2.91. Their 2010 release and still one of the best; no documented clone target.
- Khamrah — winter 2.49. Dates, cinnamon and praline, and genuinely unisex.
- Oud Mood — winter 2.38, a clone of Lancôme Oud Bouquet.
All four are long-lasting with strong sillage. One or two sprays. These are consistently overapplied.
If you specifically want a clone
Here is the thing that surprises people: most Lattafa are not clones at all. Only about one in five of the 198 we hold has a documented original, and their most famous bottles — Yara, Fakhar, Raghba, Angham — are their own compositions.
Their documented clones include Asad (Sauvage Elixir), Hayaati (Invictus), Ana Abiyedh Rouge (Baccarat Rouge 540), Qaed Al Fursan (Aventus), Oud Mood and Eclaire (Bianco Latte — which owners say outlasts the original by a distance).
But be honest about the hit rate. On our genre analysis, Lattafa lands only 31% of its clones overall, and just 15% of its gourmand attempts — the worst of six houses in the genre it is most associated with. Buy Lattafa for their own compositions; buy Maison Alhambra or French Avenue when you specifically want a copy.
A note on the gender labels
Largely ignore them. Lattafa marks 153 of the 192 it labels as unisex — against 22 for men and 17 for women — so the label carries little information. Where they do gender something it is not always consistent: Fakhar is marked for women despite a textbook fougère structure.
The two worth knowing: Yara genuinely reads feminine by Western convention, and Angham is genuinely unisex — its lavender cuts what would otherwise be a sweet dessert gourmand.
Before you order
- Buy a decant first where you can. A few pounds answers the only question that matters.
- Wait six to eight weeks before judging it. Lattafa ship fast and bottles frequently arrive unmacerated — the change is larger than you would expect.
- Check the seller. Popular Lattafa get counterfeited, and provenance beats inspecting the bottle.
- Match the season first. More disappointment comes from wearing the right fragrance at the wrong time of year than from buying the wrong one.
