Both reactions are correct, and there is a pattern to which is which.
The short verdict
Yes, with one specific and predictable caveat. They are the most reliable clone house operating at scale, and their weakness is almost always performance rather than smell.
The record

- Minerale → Ganymede. Lands the mineralic mandarin opening one to one.
- Opera Noir → YSL Black Opium. Owners call it deeper and denser than the original, holding eight hours or more.
- Amber & Leather → Tom Ford Ombré Leather. Scored 98% on one list, though only one source makes that call.
That is a serious hit list. Fleur Narcotique and Ganymede in particular are difficult, expensive niche compositions, not easy designer targets.
The flaw, and it is remarkably consistent
Read enough Alhambra reports and the same sentence structure appears again and again: the smell is right, and it does not last.
- Lovely Cherie → Lost Cherry: smells almost exactly like it, fades in an hour or two.
- Infini Musk → Initio Musk Therapy: a dead ringer on scent, then half an hour of projection and three hours on skin.
- Porto Neroli → Tom Ford Neroli Portofino: about 85% on scent and the weakest of their Tom Ford set at roughly six hours.
- Woody Oud → Oud Wood: rated 85% and described as the weak performer of that field at seven hours.
- Fabulo Intense, for all its accuracy: four or five hours against the Tom Ford''s all-day wear.
- Cassius → Carlisle: strong up close, barely carries, short on both sillage and longevity.
Buying Alhambra means buying the smell, not the performance. That is not a scandal — it is the trade that makes a £25 bottle possible, and concentration is exactly where the cost saving lands. But it should shape what you buy them for.
The honest exception: it is not universal. Flower Addiction outlasts its original by hours, and Opera Noir holds eight. When Alhambra performs, it performs. It simply cannot be assumed.
They are not only a clone house

- Give it two months. Several of their bottles are described as harsh out of the box and correct after a few weeks — Galatea opens "harsh and chemical" and turns green and fruity once it has settled.
- Spray more, and spray clothing. At this price the sensible response to moderate longevity is more sprays, and fabric holds far longer than skin.
- Do not assume the big house wins. On several targets a smaller house beats them outright.
The short version
Maison Alhambra is a good brand and the most dependable clone house at scale — half their attempts land, across a catalogue far larger than anyone else''s. Their accuracy on difficult niche targets is genuinely impressive.
They are also, more often than not, a house that sells you the right smell for a shorter time. Buy them knowing that, buy the heavier compositions, and let the bottle sit before you judge it.
