Louis Vuitton is the most cloned brand we track. Not Creed, not Tom Ford, not Maison Francis Kurkdjian — Louis Vuitton. Imagination alone has 14 documented dupes, more than Aventus, which is the fragrance the entire clone industry was arguably built on.
The reason is not mysterious. LV fragrances cost £250 to £400, they are sold only in LV boutiques, there are no samples on the shelf and no decants at the counter. You cannot try one without walking into a luxury store and asking. That combination — expensive, desirable, hard to sample — is the perfect target, and the clone houses have swarmed it.
Across seven LV fragrances we hold 32 verified dupes. Here is where each one actually stands.
Imagination — 14 dupes, the deepest field in the hobby
Nothing else we track comes close to this many attempts. That is good news and bad: the winners have been tested exhaustively, and the field is also thick with bottles riding the hype.
Four land in the top band. Ard Al Zaafaran Saheb Intense is ranked best from opening to drydown and is the cheapest of the group — about 5% brighter and sweeter than the original, and crucially it keeps the airy lightness the others lose. Bujairami Hectic comes in around 95% and won a blind test against the original, with one reviewer who owns the real thing and seven clones calling it a tie for best. Jean Lowe Fantasme won a blind strip test run past four people by an owner of the original and nine clones; it leans slightly harder on the tea note and beyond that testers could barely separate them. Lattafa Pride Art of Arabia I has an opening people call impossible to tell apart in the air, though the drydown fades sooner — buy a decant rather than a big bottle.
Now the one you have been recommended. Arabiyat Prestige Marwa is the bottle influencers pushed hardest, and it genuinely divides people who own both. One eight-way blind battle made it a joint winner on closeness and quality. Another owner rates it a tie for best, a shade soapier. But two others flatly disagree — one finds the ginger spicy and the performance poor, another says the citrus is louder than the original and the neroli is simply wrong. It is a real attempt, not a fake, but it is not the consensus pick its reputation suggests.
Two more are worth knowing for the right reason rather than as a match. Al Haramain Amber Oud Aqua Dubai takes Imagination's soap note and dials it up while losing the tea entirely — the loudest of the lot at a solid 12 hours, but the drydown goes its own way. French Avenue Essence de Blanc does the opposite, amping the tea until a strange herbal note takes over. Both are decent fragrances and neither is Imagination.
City of Stars — one clear 1:1
This is the cleanest result on the page. Alexandria Fragrances City of Angels is the only clone anyone calls a true one-to-one, scored 9.9 out of 10 by someone who blind-tested it against the original. Strong projection, around eight hours, and a pressurised atomiser that outclasses everything else in the field.
Behind it, the alternatives are all "very close, not exact". Lucianno Star Dust nails the sunscreen, florals and citrus and then, oddly for an extrait, does not last. Maison d'Arabie Marine Blue projects three hours and lasts past eight but puts its own twist on the profile. Grandeur Elite Shooting Stars sits at about 80% and does not smell cheap, without matching the original's quality.
Afternoon Swim — the clone is arguably better made
Montagne Afternoon Dive is about 90% there and, by several accounts, better constructed than the Louis Vuitton. The tell is the orange: the original leans candied and juicy, while this reads more natural — like climbing out of a pool and reaching for orange slices — with just enough musk behind it. Five to eight hours, and it improves a lot with maceration.
Jean Lowe Azure is more citrusy and a twisted take rather than a copy, and several owners prefer it. Performance is poor — though as the notes on the Afternoon Swim page point out, so is the original's, which makes this a much smaller sacrifice than usual.
Pacific Chill — every clone outlasts the original
Pacific Chill's known weakness is that it disappears. All three tracked dupes fix it. Maison Asrar Vision pushes the fig and apricot further forward than the original and had the best build quality of anything tested apart from the LV itself. Bujairami No Limit runs a shade fresher with added bergamot and both outlasts and out-projects the original. Pinnacle White is the closest on scent — a hint sweeter, a touch more apricot, quality within about 9% — though it projects slightly less.

Ombre Nomade — two good answers
Ombre Nomade is the LV everyone has heard of, and it has fewer clones than Imagination because it is much harder to copy. Albait Aldimashqi Ombre Nomade smells very close and can last as long as the original or longer. French Avenue The Shadow is more floral and inky, less dark, and usually projects less — closer to a reinterpretation.
Météore — pick by how loud you want it
The two Météore clones are the same idea at different volumes. Khadlaj Shiyaaka Snow keeps the original's freshness and wears lighter, and was a top pick in an arm-to-arm test by an owner of the LV. Game of Spades Double Bonus is described as its older brother — stronger and louder from the first spray. Better if you want presence, worse if you want the original's lightness.
L'Immensité — and the 95% figure that is not real
This one is worth reading before you buy, because the most-repeated number about it is false.
Maison Alhambra Jean Lowe Immortel is widely quoted as a 95% match to L'Immensité. By the community's own account, that figure comes from people who have never smelled the original. Owners who have both put it around 70%. The ginger is heavier and overpowers the citrus and aquatic notes the original keeps in balance, and some pick up a pickle-juice edge that is not in the LV at all. It is a good fragrance judged on its own terms, and longevity is a gamble.
Fragrance World L'Infinite is the better-blended of the two and much less talked about — smoother, where Immortel pushes ginger. Underused rather than worse.
The pattern across all seven
Something unusual happens with Louis Vuitton that does not happen elsewhere. Normally a clone gets the smell close and loses badly on performance, because the expensive base materials are the first thing cut.
With LV, the clones frequently outperform the originals. Every Pacific Chill dupe lasts longer than Pacific Chill. Afternoon Swim's clones are compared favourably on build. Aqua Dubai runs 12 hours against an original that does not.
That is because LV's fragrances, for all their price, are not built for longevity — they are built to smell expensive and refined for a few hours. So the usual trade-off narrows, and the honest question stops being "how much am I giving up" and becomes "do I want the bottle and the boutique, or the smell?"
For most of these seven, the smell is available for under £30.
