Best YSL Dupes: Libre, La Nuit, Y, and Tuxedo Alternatives Under $25

Yves Saint Laurent sits in a sweet spot in the fragrance world — more prestigious than mainstream designers but more accessible than niche houses. Libre, La Nuit de L'Homme, and Y are among the most worn fragrances globally. Y in particular produced one of the few clones to beat its original in a blind test. At $90-150 per bottle, they're not cheap — but the clone market offers solid alternatives.

Libre Dupes

Libre Yves Saint Laurent

YSL Libre ($120) is one of the biggest women's fragrances of the past decade. The lavender-orange blossom-vanilla combination is bold, confident, and slightly androgynous. It smells like freedom — or at least how a French fashion house imagines freedom should smell.

Best Pick: Maison Alhambra Libbra (~$18)

Maison Alhambra Libbra

Maison Alhambra Libbra — the name gives it away immediately. The lavender-citrus opening and vanilla-musk base capture the Libre spirit. The orange blossom is slightly less prominent than in the original, and the dry down is sweeter. But the overall impression is recognizably Libre.

Performance is decent at 6-7 hours. Given that Libre itself is already affordable by designer standards, the savings are less dramatic here — but $18 vs $120 is still meaningful.

Runner-up: Lattafa Tharwah Gold (~$15)

Lattafa Pride Tharwah Gold

Lattafa Tharwah Gold targets Libre Intense — the richer, more vanilla-heavy version. If you prefer the Intense over the original, Tharwah Gold captures that warmer, sweeter profile.

La Nuit de L'Homme Dupes

La Nuit De L'Homme Yves Saint Laurent

YSL La Nuit de L'Homme ($100) is a seductive cardamom-lavender-cedar composition that has been a date night staple since 2009. Its biggest weakness: longevity. The EDT reformulations have made it famously short-lived — gorgeous for 3 hours, then gone.

Best Pick: Lattafa Al Nashama Caprice (~$15)

Lattafa Al Nashama Caprice

Lattafa Al Nashama Caprice targets La Nuit Bleu Electrique — the fresher, more modern flanker. The cardamom and blue electrifying freshness are there. And here's the key advantage: it lasts longer than the original. Where La Nuit fades after 3-4 hours, Caprice pushes to 7-8.

For many people, that longevity advantage alone makes Caprice the better buy — even ignoring the $85 price difference.

Y Dupes

Yves Saint Laurent Y for men

YSL Y ($95) is a clean, fresh, versatile masculine fragrance — apple, sage, ambergris, cedar. It's the safe choice that works everywhere. The Y Le Parfum adds more depth with iris and geranium.

Best Pick: Maison Alhambra Yeah (~$15)

Maison Alhambra Yeah

Maison Alhambra Yeah captures the clean, fresh, apple-sage character of Y. It's straightforward and reliable — nothing surprising but nothing wrong either. A solid everyday blue fragrance at $15.

Runner-up (with a caveat): Lattafa Fakhar (~$12)

Lattafa Fakhar

Fakhar is widely recommended as a Y EDP alternative, and the note overlap is real — both are built on apple, sage and cedar, which is an unusual enough combination that the comparison did not come from nowhere. At $12 it is the cheapest way into that territory, and performance is moderate at 5-6 hours, which is usually enough for a daily office fragrance.

But we have no first-hand comparison for this pairing, so it is not in our dupe index. Every link we publish comes from someone who owned both bottles and compared them on skin, and nobody has written that up for Fakhar and Y. The pairing circulates on note lists alone, which is exactly the method we do not trust — shared notes are a weak predictor of shared smell.

Treat it as a lead rather than a verdict. Fakhar is a genuinely good fragrance on its own terms — an aromatic fougère that rates positively in all four seasons and is the best-balanced office bottle in the Lattafa range — and it is worth $12 whether or not it gets you to Y. Buy it as a fougère, not as a substitute, and you will not be disappointed either way.

Runner-up: Armaf Odyssey Mega (~$18)

Armaf Odyssey Mega

Armaf Odyssey Mega targets Y Le Parfum. Slightly deeper and more complex than the other Y clones. If you want the fuller Y experience rather than the lighter EDT version, Mega is the move.

Tuxedo Dupes

Le Vestiaire Tuxedo ($280) is YSL's niche-level offering — a dark patchouli-spice composition from the Le Vestiaire des Parfums collection. It's the YSL fragrance that fragrance enthusiasts actually get excited about.

Best Pick: Maison Alhambra The Tux (~$20)

Maison Alhambra The Tux

Maison Alhambra The Tux captures the dark patchouli-vanilla-spice character with good accuracy. The patchouli is earthy and prominent, the vanilla adds warmth, and the spicy notes give it edge. At $20 vs $280, this is one of the most cost-effective clones in Maison Alhambra's lineup.

Performance is impressive — 10+ hours with strong projection. The Tux has earned a devoted following among budget fragrance enthusiasts who love the dark oriental profile.

Runner-up: Afnan Turathi Brown (~$18)

Afnan Turathi Brown

Afnan Turathi Brown also targets Tuxedo. Slightly less accurate than The Tux but has its own charm — warmer, less earthy, more vanilla-forward. Good for people who find pure patchouli too intense.

Which YSL Should You Clone?

The biggest savings come from cloning Tuxedo ($280 → $20) and Libre Intense ($140 → $15). The standard Y and La Nuit are already reasonably priced, so the savings are less dramatic — but if you're building a rotation on a budget, every $80 saved matters.

The single best value on this list: Lattafa Al Nashama Caprice. It costs less than the original, lasts longer, and captures the seductive La Nuit character. When the dupe outperforms the original in longevity, it's hard to justify paying more.
