Kilian Vodka on the Rocks is a 2011 unisex Eau de Parfum from the house's Liquors collection, and it is a much stranger thing than the name suggests.
There is no vodka note as such — vodka barely smells of anything. What Kilian built instead is the idea of it: cold, clean, faintly sweet, with coriander and pink pepper up top giving a chilled bite. Underneath is where it gets interesting. Vanilla, tonka and a soft powdery musk turn the whole thing warm and skin-like within an hour.
So it opens like something out of a freezer and finishes like something worn under a coat. That contrast is the reason people keep it.
Longevity is good and the sillage is close. It is quiet in a way that suits its price badly and its wearer well.
