Kilian Apple Brandy on the Rocks is a 2021 unisex Eau de Parfum, and it does what the name says with unusual literalness.
It opens on green apple, sharp and juicy, with a boozy edge that reads as calvados rather than sweet cider. Rum and cinnamon sit behind it. As it settles, oak and tonka arrive and the apple turns cooked rather than fresh, more like a tart than fruit off the tree.
The Liquors collection is built on this trick — take a drink, render it as a fragrance, keep it recognisable. This is one of the more successful attempts, partly because apple and wood is a combination that works on skin and partly because the boozy note never turns medicinal.
Longevity is respectable, roughly six to eight hours, with moderate projection.
It arrived after Angels' Share had already made the collection famous, and lives somewhat in its shadow. The clone houses have followed the same order of priority.
