What is Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet?

Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet is a perfume by Dior. It came out in 2014 as an Eau de Toilette for women.

It is the lightest, freshest member of the Miss Dior family. Where other versions feel rich and grown-up, this one is meant to feel like spring.

Fragrantica credits the perfumer Louise Turner. François Demachy, Dior's own perfumer at the time, described it as a silky floral built on peony.

The Miss Dior story

Miss Dior is one of the oldest names at Dior. The first Miss Dior came out in 1947, the same year as Christian Dior's first fashion show.

It was named after his younger sister, Catherine Dior. Her story is part of why the name still matters to the brand.

Blooming Bouquet is a much younger and lighter take on that name. It shares the name and the bow on the bottle, but it smells nothing like the 1947 original.

What does it smell like?

Fragrantica lists Sicilian mandarin at the top. Then come pink peony, Damask rose, apricot and peach, over white musk.

So it is a fresh, fruity floral. Most people smell soft peony and rose, with a light peachy sweetness and clean musk.

One fan described it as "bright, fresh peonies, white roses, clean white musk, and a kiss of baby powder." Another called the rollerball version "so girly and soapy and fresh."

How it changes on your skin

The opening. It starts with juicy mandarin. It is bright but soft, not sharp like lemon.

The middle. The peony and rose come forward, with a little peach and apricot. This is the "bouquet" in the name.

The drydown. Later it settles into soft white musk. It stays clean and light.

Why people love it

It is a classic "pretty" perfume. Fans call it fresh, feminine and easy to wear.

It shows up again and again on lists of favourite girly scents. One person put it simply: they love their "hyperfeminine fragrances," and this was the first one they named.

It is also a safe office scent. When Reddit users were asked about their work fragrance, it was one of the answers.

One writer noted that big floral perfumes have gone out of fashion. They named Blooming Bouquet as one of the exceptions that is still loved.

Why some people don't

Some people get a lot of alcohol from it, especially at first. One person wore it to work, and their manager asked if they had been at a party the night before because they smelled of alcohol.

Others find it too "perfumey." One person tried it in a shop and said it smelled like "nothing but 'perfume,'" with no clear flower notes.

And some just find it too sweet or too common. It turns up on lists of popular scents people can't stand.

How long does it last?

It is an Eau de Toilette, the lighter strength, so it is not a powerhouse. Most owners treat it as a soft scent that stays fairly close.

If you want it to last a full day, plan to reapply.

The dupe: Zara Nude Bouquet

Zara is the Spanish fashion chain. It also makes cheap perfumes, and Nude Bouquet is the one most often named as a Blooming Bouquet dupe.

It appears on Reddit's big list of perfumes and their dupes, paired with Blooming Bouquet. Many people love it in its own right.

Fans call it classy and fresh. One person has bought three bottles, and another called it "literally the best."

Does Nude Bouquet smell like Blooming Bouquet?

Not really, according to the one owner of both we found. We list it with low confidence for that reason.

On Fragrantica's forum, someone asked if Nude Bouquet "smells exactly like" Blooming Bouquet. An owner of the Dior replied that the Zara "will certainly disapoint you, if you really love" the original.

They said it gives "5min of something vaguely similar," and then it is gone.

The notes help explain why. Nude Bouquet lists lotus, jasmine, bergamot, honeysuckle and vanilla.

There is no peony and no rose on that list. It is a sweeter, vanilla-based white floral, not a peony and rose bouquet.

One Zara fan described it as "an earthy warm fragrance." That is quite far from the Dior's fresh, clean feel.

Which Nude Bouquet?

Zara has made many versions under this name. Fragrantica lists a 2016, a 2017, a 2023 and an Intense, among others.

They are not all the same. The 2016 version, for example, adds heliotrope, sandalwood and tonka.

If you try one, check which version it is. Owners do not always say which one they mean.

Other names you will see

Dossier Citrus Peony. Dossier makes cheaper versions of famous perfumes and sells this one as its Blooming Bouquet take. One buyer said their Blooming Bouquet and Flowerbomb dupes from Dossier were "spot on."

Zara Lightly Bloom. One person said it is "apparently a dupe" of Blooming Bouquet. But they had not smelled the original.

We do not list either as a dupe yet. Neither has owners of the original comparing them side by side.

Is there a good dupe at all?

Honestly, not a proven one. The owner on Fragrantica said they have noticed that Dior perfumes have very few good dupes.

That matches what we see. Blooming Bouquet is popular, but we have not found a well-known copy from the big clone houses.

If you love the original, the original may be the only way to get it.

The newer version

In 2023, Dior released a new Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet. Fragrantica lists it as a separate perfume.

Its notes are bergamot and sweet pea at the top, peony and Damask rose in the middle, and white musk at the base. The mandarin, peach and apricot are gone.

One owner who has the 2023 version said it is similar but fresher. They added that it dries down "with a bit of warmth," like the main Miss Dior.

The Blooming Bouquet family

Dior has made several products under this name. Fragrantica lists a rollerball called the Roller Pearl, a hair mist, and a Couture Edition with a special bottle.

The hair mist and rollerball are lighter ways to wear the same idea. One fan said the rollerball felt soft and soapy.

There is also Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming. Despite the similar name, it is a separate perfume, not a stronger Blooming Bouquet.

The 2023 version came with a campaign narrated by the actor Natalie Portman. Dior calls it "a fragrant declaration of love."

Scents fans name next to it

These are not dupes. But people who love Blooming Bouquet often mention them in the same breath.

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre and Chloé Eau de Parfum. One fan listed both with Blooming Bouquet as their favourite "girliest" scents.

Ralph Lauren Romance. One person tried Blooming Bouquet, Chance Eau Tendre and Chloé while looking for something better than Romance. They found nothing came close to it.

Jo Malone Rose Blush. It was suggested right next to Blooming Bouquet in a thread asking for the girliest perfumes.

If you like this style, these are worth smelling too. Each one is its own perfume, though, not a copy.

Which should you buy?

Buy the original if you love fresh peony and rose with clean musk. Nothing cheaper is a proven match.

Try Zara Nude Bouquet if you want a cheap, pretty floral and do not need an exact copy. Think of it as a different perfume.

Skip both if you want something strong and long-lasting. Neither is built for that.

When to wear it

This is a spring and summer scent. Fragrantica voters pick spring most, then summer, with very few votes for winter.

It is also very much a daytime scent. Day gets over six times as many votes as night.

Tips for wearing it

Give it a few minutes before you judge it. The alcohol at the start fades, and the flowers come through.

Spray it on clothes or a scarf as well as skin. Light florals often last longer on fabric.

A short story about Catherine Dior

Catherine Dior was Christian Dior's youngest sister. During the Second World War, she joined the French Resistance.

In 1944 she was arrested and sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp in Germany. She survived and came home in 1945.

After the war, she grew flowers and sold them in Paris. Her brother named Miss Dior after her in 1947.

So every Miss Dior, including this light, flowery one, carries the name of a woman who loved flowers and survived the war.

Why peony is hard to bottle

Peony is the heart of Blooming Bouquet. But peony flowers do not give a usable perfume oil.

So perfumers rebuild the smell from other materials, mixing rose-like, fresh and slightly citrus notes. That is why every peony perfume smells a little different.

It also helps explain why this perfume is hard to copy exactly. Each brand builds its own peony.
