Virginia Cedar

Virginia cedar is a distinctive variety of cedar grown in the eastern United States that brings a dry, pencil-like, slightly smoky woodiness to perfumery. Unlike the warmer, oilier Atlas cedar, Virginia cedar has a clean, sharp character reminiscent of freshly sharpened pencils and cedar-lined closets.

It is one of the most commonly used and versatile wood notes in the perfumer's palette. Virginia cedar provides excellent fixation and a clean woody structure.

It pairs beautifully with other woods for layered depth, with vetiver for earthy sophistication, with citrus for a fresh woody contrast, with musks for a clean base, and with florals for grounded elegance.
