Styrax
Found in 9 fragrances

Styrax is a warm, rich, balsamic resin that adds a distinctive sweet-smoky quality to perfumery. Harvested from the bark of Liquidambar trees, styrax produces an aroma that combines the warmth of cinnamon, the sweetness of vanilla, and a phenolic, slightly leathery smokiness that gives it a raw, artisanal character.
It is one of the oldest known perfumery materials, used in incense for thousands of years. In fragrance, styrax adds a complex balsamic warmth with a distinctive amber-leather quality.
It provides excellent fixation, helping other notes last longer on the skin. Styrax pairs beautifully with benzoin for a complete balsamic base, with leather for a smoky richness, with vanilla for warm depth, with incense for a sacred atmosphere, and with florals for a rich, enveloping contrast.
You will find styrax in many oriental and leather fragrances that value depth and complexity.
